Travel Resources
Here are the travel sites and tools I use for booking and planning all my trips. None of these links are sponsored, they are just the companies and products I stand by.
Accommodation
I’ve always believed that where you stay frames the entire trip. Having a good home base makes exploring more comfortable.
Finding Flights
The beginning stages of my trips usually start by searching for affordable flights. Google Flights allows you to search different destinations and times to find the cheapest flights
Cultural Activities and Excursions
These are my go to sites for booking activities:
- Get Your Guide: The top place to book museum and historical site tickets and outdoor excursions. I used Go Your Guide to reserve the majority of my museum tickets in Rome and to ride a camel in Salalah, Oman.
- Couchsurfing: Besides offering affordable places to stay for the more adventurous travelers, Couchsurfing also allows you to connect with locals and find more authentic experiences.
Car Rentals:
I usually try to use reputable rental car agencies when driving abroad. Small rental companies with excellent reviews are also a safe bet. Many have excellent customer service and affordable cars.
I have primarily used Enterprise and Hertz.
International Drivers License
Many countries require an international drivers license in order to rent a car. I must admit, I haven’t always had an international drivers licence on my travels. Luckily, I have never been asked to show it when picking up my rental car.
However, making sure I have an international drivers license is always on the top of my list before traveling now. I don’t want to be turned away on a roads trip.
Acquiring your international drivers license is cheap and quick at AAA In surance
Explore Visa Requirements
Curious about the visa requirements for the country you’ll be visiting? Ivisa classifies all countries by their visa entry requirements and will inform you if an embassy registration is required. You will be able to order your visa directly from them and will be sent to you quickly.
Many countries issue Americans Visas on arrival. Certain countries, like Jordan, require Americans to acquire a visa with dates of travel before departing.
- Jordan Visa: Must acquire before travel
Travel Aids
Below are a few of the travel aids that have assisted me on my trips.
Ferry Hopper: Essential for Island hopping in Greece. Shows connections sorted by price throughout Greece, especially Athens and Greece’s over 300 Islands.
Jordan Pass: Allows you access to the majority of archoligcal and historical sites in Jordan for a significant discount. Petra, Wadi Rum, and Amman Citadel included.
